Biodiesel is on the up
Sustainability has become an essential factor of the developing world, and it is far more apparent and accepted that fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas) are a finite supply for today’s energy.
Currently, these energy resources provide around 90-95% of the worlds total energy and with demand hitting an all time high in Europe, renewable energy forms become vital to our future.
Today’s research in biofuels is providing evidence that it is the most appropriate alternative, but yet there are a great deal of debates to what advantages outweigh the disadvantages because of the growing impact of factors like food production and prices, eco-systems and deforestation.
As a shipper of Biofuel products for third party customers, we are currently seeing increased volumes within the mainstream market; especially the two main commonly used Biofuels “Ethanol and Biodiesel (Fatty Acid methyl Esther)â€.
Since 2007 we have already shipped in excess of 60,000mts of Biodiesel for our customers and with the constant increase in global demand for such products, we hope to carry on assisting our clients in enabling them to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and become carbon neutral in this ever changing world.
You too could help to reduce your environmental footprint: Pay a little extra to ‘offset’ your usual fuel, and achieve carbon dioxide reductions elsewhere in the world. In other words, you ‘neutralise’ the carbon emissions your vessel or company is pumping into the atmosphere. Global warming is real, and we should all be doing our bit to prevent it.
We have partnered with Henley-based firm ‘Carbon Offsets Ltd’ to provide independently verified credits from robust and reliable carbon offsetting schemes. Schemes include an energy efficiency scheme in South Africa, biomass energy capture in Brazil, and renewable energy wind farms in Turkey and India.
Some interesting facts about Biofuels:-
- Biodiesel is proven that it is a better lubricant than diesel and can actually extend engine life
- It’s energy content is about 90 percent that of petroleum diesel
- Free from sulphur (<0,001%)
